Once it stepped behind the bar, the amaro stopped being just an after-dinner ritual. No longer confined to the role of digestif, it became a star ingredient in signature cocktails — capable of winning over just about everyone. Among them, Amaro Panorama stands out for its bright notes of mandarin peel, chinotto, and almond. Layered with a wealth of Campanian botanicals, the recipe lends depth and freshness to every sip. At 30% ABV, with zero artificial flavourings and 40% less sugar than its competitors, it strikes a light, balanced profile that never overwhelms.
Crafting Cocktails with Amaro Panorama
Born in 2022 in the workshop of Distillatori Russo 1899, the liqueur has already found a home in many Italian bars, easily recognised by its label depicting Mount Vesuvius seen from Posillipo. “It works beautifully on its own, but in cocktails it opens up even more,” says Marco Fedele from behind the counter at Smile in Rome’s Garbatella district — a neighbourhood bar beloved for its ’90s vibe, informal spirit, good music, and approachable drinks.
Macchiato por favore!

His take is Macchiato por favore!: coconut milk, instant coffee, liquid sugar, Maldon salt and 40 ml of Amaro Panorama, served in a low tumbler where the emulsion creates a natural layering. “We were drawn to the idea of a milkshake,” Marco explains. “The coffee gives depth, the coconut softens it, the salt keeps the rhythm. Panorama pulls it all together, finishing with a citrus note that cleanses and makes you want another sip.”
The result is a low-ABV serve at just 8%, “Perfect for any season, because it approaches the bitter serve like the everyday ritual of coffee.”
