Cocktails & Covers: drinks, vinyl and magazine moments in Rome’s most unexpected pop-up

A drink and a magazine, a photo and a vinyl. From May 25 to 27, right in the middle of Roma Bar Show, Edicola Erno in Prati flips the script and becomes a gathering spot for cocktail lovers, music heads and curious passersby. Cocktails & Covers is the off-show event by Cinquanta – Spirito Italiano and Coqtail – for fine drinkers, mixing good drinks, fresh music, print culture and a few cover-worthy snapshots.

From May 25 to 27, from 12 to 10 PM, Edicola Erno opens its doors and invites you to slow down. On sale: signature canned cocktails and collectible mixology magazines. In the air: carefully selected vinyl. On-site: a photo set ready for portraits. There are no guest bartenders here—just good vibes and attention to detail, from the first drink to the final click of the camera.

The daily lineup

It all takes place in Piazza Amerigo Capponi, in Rome’s Prati district. From 12 to 6 PM, the space is open to the public—anyone can walk up, grab a drink and flick through the latest issue of Coqtail. From 6 to 10 PM, things shift: DJs turn up the volume, the camera rolls, and a select crowd of journalists, bar professionals and cocktail fans drop by for an easygoing hangout that feels more like a street party than an industry event.

A cover shot, straight up

Here’s how it works: you arrive, grab a drink, strike a pose. A backdrop, a professional photographer, and four hours to feel like you’ve made the cover of something cool. Your photo gets ready on the spot—ready to post right away. No rush, no pretense—just a quick, fun experience with a little touch of stardom.

Meanwhile, the magazine becomes part of the scene. Coqtail – for fine drinkers is on sale in its latest issue, but also used as a prop, a conversation starter, and a reminder that good drinking is also about storytelling.

In the can: clean drinks with style

The cocktails come from Cinquanta – Spirito Italiano, the award-winning bar from Pagani known for keeping Italian hospitality simple, sharp and honest. For this occasion, they created two limited-edition canned drinks in collaboration with Bubble Bev.

Giancarlo’s Bamboo is a dry, aromatic twist on the classic Bamboo—featuring Mancino dry vermouth, sherry, peach liqueur and gum syrup. Salty Can’ is a bolder take on the Salty Dog, with Amaro Lucano, Mancino vermouth, grapefruit soda and a salty finish.

To round it out: a selection of Sei Bellissimi Belline, from Giancarlo Mancino’s ready-to-drink line. Clean, elegant, and designed to be enjoyed standing up, in the middle of the city.

The soundtrack from Frissón

The music comes courtesy of Frissón, a Roman DJ collective that’s been spinning soulful vinyl and rare grooves since 2021. Their Soundsystem isn’t about crowd-pleasing hits—it’s about atmosphere, rhythm, and the kind of warmth only vinyl can deliver. For three days, Edicola Erno turns into a soft-focus street club, with real character behind the decks.

Who’s behind Cocktails & Covers

Cocktails & Covers is part of the official fuori Roma Bar Show, and it’s here to remind us that good drinks and good company don’t always need a formal setting. It’s been created by Alfonso Califano and Natale Palmieri, founders of Cinquanta – Spirito Italiano, together with Penelope Vaglini and Chiara Degl’Innocenti, partners of Coqtail – for fine drinkers.

It’s a space that only exists for three days—but it leaves a longer echo. Why? Because the teams behind it know exactly how to turn an idea into an experience. And with the support of Lucano, Mancino Vermouth and Sei Bellissimi, this pop-up feels like the kind of place you’ll wish would stick around.
